How to Get Assistance!

Kathy's Garage after a major trapping event!
So you are feeding a bunch of outdoor cats...

You've set up a little shelter area for them to get out of the weather...

You feel a little guilty for giving them food, but you cant stand to see them cold and hungry...

Spring is coming and you know that a population explosion is about to happen....

or

A population explosion has already happened and you don't know what to do...

Western Iowa's Feral and Homeless Cat Program is here to help.   Our goal is to help control and reduce the overpopulation of outdoor cats.  This is done by trapping the cats, getting them to the vet for their "spa treatment", which is spay or neuter, vaccinations and any other medical treatment the cat may need.  The cats are then returned to their outdoor situation in hopes that they will continue to be fed and monitored.  Returning these cats is important.  They are territorial and will keep most newcomers at bay.  The number of cats will naturally reduce from causes of nature.  Please know, that relocation can be difficult for the cats under the best of circumstances.  Relocation is only done if the cats are not safe where they are.  Removing all cats creates a vacuum effect and opens the door for new cats to appear, thus the problem starts all over

What does it cost?   We do not charge for our services.  We operate on donations and the volunteer time of a few dedicated people.  There is much involved financially, time-wise and fuel.  We do ask that you consider donating to our program so that we can continue to operate in Western Iowa.  Our cost is $50 per cat, which is trap, transport, surgery, vaccinations, and returning to the locations.  We ask that you search your heart and your pocketbook to help pay for the cats we assist you with.  We also hope you will become a regular supporter during our annual events to help us help those who may have no one else.

If you are facing a kitty crisis in your community or on your farm, and you live in Southwest Iowa,

email cats@wifcap.org

Our goal is to help in whatever way possible. Our level of assistance may be limited because of distance, but we will do everything we can to guide and teach.
